How Do I Join?

Once you've had a look around our Website and want to join Birmingham Fencing Club, please use the contact form at the bottom of the Home page.  Alternatively, you can email mikejoanfencing@hotmail.com or call 07973 632831.

Where Are Fencing Classes Held?

We are a community club, and housed in the  University of Birmingham Sports & Fitness Centre, B15 2TT.  Located on the A38 Bristol Road in Selly Oak, on the junction with Edgbaston Park Road,  (see map on the home page or course & fees).

Do I Need Expensive Clothing & Equipment?

Not at all.  The Club hold stock of everything you need to use - although some Members, particularly those who have been fencing for some time, prefer to purchase their own.  Tracksuit/joggers and a t-shirt with trainers are fine.

Can I Park On Site?

Access to the multi-storey car park is opposite Lloyds Bank on Edgbaston Park Road.  Take a ticket at the barrier and park up free for three hours.  You will need to ensure you validate this token before you leave the Sports Centre, and machines to do this are by the Costa coffee shop on the ground floor.

What Are The Age Limits To Join?

Fencing is a great sport for all ages and abilities, however the minimum age to join is 8 years old.

Do I Need Insurance?

For our Beginners there is a limited 90day insurance included in your course.

All other Insurance is the responsibility of individual club members.  This is done annually through British Fencing.  All fencers must be members of British Fencing (or associated governing body).  If you have a question talk to a member of the committee.
